to fall in love with a stranger. I know how easy it is to have your breath taken completely from a smile, from the beauty of another person. I know how easy it is to relate to a person who speaks the same language as you. How easy it is to become entangled within them, to become a part of them. To dwell within minds from day one until the day of death.

I know how easy it is to love someone. I’ve met people in passing and loved them like I’d known them for centuries. Written stories and poems about them, as though we’d spent time knowing each other. I’ve felt the softness and beauty of another soul pass me by. I felt the lingering presence blocks later. I’ve felt their footprints on my brain cells. I know how easy it is to have your heart stolen.

I know that love is anything. Love can be anywhere at any time, love can be demanded, love can be given, it can be taken, but most importantly, it can be found…in anyone, in any place.

I know how easy it is to find love. It may not be perfect, or the one that fits you just right…but it’s easy to find. You could be in love with one person, and meet your soul mate the next day. You can spend your life wondering “what if?” or whether or not you’d chosen someone worthy of your love. You can go through a thousand different things because of the love that you hold for someone particular and have them, in the end, be diminished to nothing.

Point is, I never want you to go your life wondering “what if…” or whether you made a mistake by giving your love to me..I know there is no such thing as endless certainty. I know there will be times where you’ll fall beneath me and forget who I am in that moment. Where you’ll touch my face and find your hand on foreign land. I know there are instances where some things will change within us, and we’ll have to learn those parts of each other over again. But you will never know, you’ll never have the certainty you search for. I want you to be okay with that. Life will not always provide a balance between things you want and things you don’t need. You’ll have to learn to take them as they come, or spend your life trying to feel complete always, and failing simultaneously.

You can find love anywhere. But love is a task, love will never stand still. It’ll always run rampant, be untamed, be a challenge, and a sport. Love, it takes patience, someone who cares enough to water the plants. Someone who sees the sun shining and goes to sit in the garden amongst the beauty they’ve grown. It’s just as easy for a flower to grow, as it is to die. You must prepare yourself for defeat, you have to feel it’s worth dying for, you have to feel it’s worth growing for, worth believing in. YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR ALL INTO IT. 

Because real love, darling.. real love is picking someone to fight with. Not expecting to simply “hold hands” and win, real love is hard. It takes heart.
